Radford University • Radford, VA • July 19 – 25, 2026

SUUSI (the Southeast Unitarian Universalist Summer Institute) will gather this year in Radford, VA, for a week-long, intergenerational summer camp for learning, fun, spiritual connection, and rest. Whether you’re coming for the first time or the fiftieth, there’s a place for you here.
Getting to Radford
Radford University is just 36 miles southwest of the city of Roanoke, Virginia, and within easy driving distance of many mid-East Coast metropolitan areas. Richmond is only a three and a half hour drive, while Washington, D.C., and the Tidewater area are only about four and a half hours away. Once you get to campus, there will be signs to guide you to check-in. If you’re looking for a ride or can offer a ride to SUUSI, try posting a message to the SUUSI Friends Facebook group.

New to SUUSI? We’ve got you. Dedicated newcomer staff and programming help first-time SUUSI-ites feel oriented, supported, and at home.
Your SUUSI registration includes:

Meals
Three meals a day, provided in the dining facilities of Radford University. The first meal is dinner on Sunday night (before Banner Parade and Ingathering) and the last is breakfast on Saturday morning.
Food Allergy and Sensitivity Meet–up: Check back here for dates and times to attend this helpful and informative session. This is the time to ask questions and learn about options. Get to know your dining services staff so it will be easier for them to to help you out!
Food Options: Please be sure to complete any dietary restrictions you may have under Special Needs in registration in SOLIS. Although guarantees can not be made, the dining staff will be working with SUUSI to provide options that are both safe and enjoyable for everyone! Dining hall staff are usually happy to check on ingredients for you; please be aware that requests made during peak meal times may require some patience before busy staffers are available to check for you.
If you have a circumstance where you really cannot eat the food in the dining hall, reach out to SUUSI staff about the possibility of not paying for meals. Note that if you can opt out of meals, it would mean opting out of all meals for the week, and you would not be able to enter the dining hall (since it’s all-you-can eat). For anyone 13 or older, meals are approximately $200 for the week.

Fun
SUUSI activities include, but are not limited to, Worship, Community Time, Workshops, Nature Trips, Nightlife activities, and age-related programs for Youth, Middlers, Teens and Young Adults. There is always something to do at SUUSI, even if it’s just hanging out in the dorm lounges with some new (or old) friends or getting a coffee at Common Ground. Don’t feel like you need to fill your schedule with workshops and nature trips, since newcomers who have tried that find that it’s a bit too much.

Housing
We offer a range of housing options—including Family, Co-op, Teen, and Young Adult dorms—each with distinct benefits and guidelines, as well as self-organized housing groups.
See the table below for a complete description of pricing. Children age 0-13 are allowed to sleep on the floor for free (up to a maximum of four people per room), so they are only charged for registration for meals. In a nutshell, adults staying 2 to a dorm room and registering by the early bird deadline (May 15) will be $975 per person for the week (6 nights). For an adult staying in a dorm room by themselves, the cost is $1050 for the week.
Note that it is possible to attend SUUSI but not stay in or pay for a dorm room (see the pricing in the table below). Many consider this to be an important part of the community experience, but if that’s the best option for you, select the no housing option when registering.
Housing FAQs
A bed in a double-occupancy room (where two people are each paying for a bed) is $255/bed (the cost we are charge by our host). Single occupancy in a dorm room can be requested, but there are a limited number of single rooms available to us.
This year a bed in a single-occupancy room is $330; the additional $75 that our host charges for single occupancy will be added to the cost of your registration.
If you request a single room and you are able to be assigned to one, you may get a room with one bed and a shared bathroom or a room with two beds and a private bathroom (for the same price).
If you request a single room and one cannot be assigned to you, you will be contacted by registration staff. If you need a single occupancy room for medical reasons and wish to request a waiver of the additional $75 fee, contact the SUUSI Registrar at registration@suusi.org.
Additional Costs:
Optional costs include fees for workshops and nature trips. When registering, please keep an eye out for cancellation deadlines for refunds – note that there are certain nature trips where SUUSI pays an external vendor which may not be refundable after a certain time.
Additional optional charges can also include drinks at Nightlife events, and purchases at the Common Grounds Café and Books & Bazaar.

Discounts, Staff Credits, and Financial Assistance
We are pleased to be able to offer a $50 early registration discount if you register by May 15. Registering early will help SUUSI tremendously due to Radford’s need for an early count and a 50% required deposit from SUUSI by May.
SUUSI staff and workshop leaders can receive credits that can be used to pay for registration, housing and meals.
You can also apply for financial assistance with a SUUSIship on the SUUSI Foundation website.
In 2026, we are also happy to offer further discounts for the following:
- If you are a new attendee, you will get a $50 discount.
- If you are returning for the first time since 2021, you will get a $50 discount.
- If you are a regular attendee and you refer folks who have not attended since before 2021, or a new attendee, you can receive a $50 discount. This can be stacked – if you refer 5 people, you can get $250 in discounts!

Payment Options
You can pay your registration fees by check, debit card, or any major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express). During registration, you may choose to pay the full amount or make a partial payment. We encourage you to complete your payment online before arriving for SUUSI check-in. You can even pay from your mobile phone after you arrive, which will help speed up the in-person check-in process. If you prefer, you may also wait and pay any remaining balance at SUUSI check-in.
Express Check In: Express check in at registration is available if your account is completely paid, all forms have been received by registrar, and no extra events need to be added to registration. Make your Sunday arrival easier and become an “Express” registration!
Cancellations: If cancellation happens before June 1, there is a $55 per person cancellation fee. The cancellation fee increases to $100 per person on June 1. Once SUUSI begins, there are no more refunds for cancellations.
